SUBOTRON pro games powered by Wirtschaftskammer Wien: Post-Mortems of Austrian Games: “LIGHTFIELD”
Event series on the practice of digital games
Venue: Raum D / Q21
In this post mortem of “LIGHTFIELD” we take a look back on how the project came to be and all the ups and downs along the way, plus all the things we learned (the things no one tells you about in the first place). The game was recently released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One after about two years of full production, but it all started as a small weekend project even longer ago. Our journey took us from the first very crude prototypes to larger prototypes, applying for and receiving public funding, buying a coffee machine, founding a company and to finally finishing the game half a year behind our initial schedule. We’ll also take a look back at the ups and downs of the launch, what went right what went wrong, and where we might want to go next.

Exhibition at SCHAURAUM Angewandte
Opening: Thu, Nov 30, 19:00

An Engine of Many Senses is a generative computational work exploring the history and potential future of the computer.
It includes a series of media elements that combine and recombine over time -- 3d images, 2d stills, generative audio, generative
media "landscapes", generative text and video components. The work has a series of internal rules that play out different combinatoric
strategies as drawn from an extensive database of architectural topologies and processes. In particular the work includes a
series of allegorical time-based images of computers as well as collaged images from the history of the computer and computational history in general.
