Art & Games feat. Jörg Piringer
Game Night in the Electric Avenue #viennaartweek 2014
Venue: Electric Avenue
As part of the common game night organized by Broken Rules, eSeL REZEPTION and ZamSpielen, selected parlour and computer games on a video screen in the Electric Avenue of quartier21 stimulate a personal exploration of digital art and its protagonists.
Besides other “communication offerings with game rules,” media artist and musician Jörg Piringer invites viewers to interact with his sound poetry apps on smartphones and tablets at the eSeL REZEPTION. “Untitled,” another installation by Piringer, transforms the visitors’ sounds and speech into live, abstract visual text compositions.

The photographic work of Markus Sepperer emerges from the megacity of Chongqing, which is Chinas fastest growing metropolis and forms a huge urbanisation hub on the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers.
In his pictures an impressively form of spaces of otherness* are unfolded.
Utopias without significant spaces are formed by collision of high-speed-urbanization, rebellion against authorities, transformation of biographies, internal migration and urban gardening. Appearing spots on urban layout plans refer to fugacity and vulnerability, moreover they point to the insistence of the human will.
*In Michel Foucault´s Essay „Des espaces autres“ the philosopher describes the present as not any longer formed by development, stagnancy, loop or accumulation of the past but rather as the age of space.

Anthony Lister (AUS)
Wall installation at the MQ forecourt
Venue: MQ forecourt
The street-artist and former Artist-in-Residence at Q21 Anthony Lister left his mark on the construction area of the MQ facade. Inspired by the works of Egon Schiele in the Leopold Museum, he used his spray bottles to create an art piece on the 100m long wall that ties the construction site in with the vibe of MQ.
