Filmscreenings André Werner (GER): Greeting Cards from Reality
as part of the exhibition "PCFS - Post Colonial Flagship Store"
Venue: freiraum quartier21 INTERNATIONAL
In cooperation with Directors Lounge Artist-in-Residence André Werner (GER) presents short film programs that are formally and thematically related to the exhibition PCFS – Post Colonial Flagship Store
“Greeting Cards from Reality“ presents selected short films, which report in many different ways from their world. Short, random stories, that invite viewers into realities which would otherwise be obstructed by floods of images.
At the centre of the screenings is the banality of suchness, even though the films are anything but banal. From minimalist observations to experimental collages, from touching narratives to shrill humoresques, they come from different genres and artistic positions.

Writing interactive stories of any emotional depth requires authors to think about consent and safety. These concerns are especially evident when we look at games with sexual content — where the player’s willingness to experience particular content, or a non-player character’s willingness to have sex with the protagonist, might be explicitly modeled. But even outside of sexual contexts, emotionally demanding or personally revealing interactive stories can require the player’s trust.
In this talk, Emily Short speaks about games that demand something unusual of the player, from drawing on the body to revealing personal information, and how they establish, build on, or betray this trust.
Emily Short is a freelance consultant in interactive fiction, narrative design, and conversation modeling. She has worked with Telltale Games, ArenaNet, ngmoco :), and Failbetter Games among others, and was the creative director of the Versu project, building interactive iPad stories around AI characters. She has written over two dozen works of interactive fiction and is part of the design team for Inform 7, a tool for creating parser-based IF.

The street-artist and former Artist-in-Residence at Q21 Anthony Lister left his mark on the construction area of the MQ facade. Inspired by the works of Egon Schiele in the Leopold Museum, he used his spray bottles to create an art piece on the 100m long wall that ties the construction site in with the vibe of MQ.
